I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE for their cooperation in learning during the Covid-19 emergency.
We are looking forward to welcoming our students back in September. The Department of Education and Skills has published its Framework for Reopening and Operating schools. The Framework provides for a full return to school with further guidance on infection prevention and control being produced by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC). When the HPSC produce their guidance St. Rynagh’s N.S. will produce our own framework for our school which we will then publish for our school community.
We are aware that while all of our pupils have registered and tried very hard to engage with learning at home that engagement will vary depending on families circumstances. With this in mind we will be concentrating on revision when we return to school before moving forward with the year’s programme. Learning Support will be used to support this process.
During the months of July and August please ensure that your children have access to books to read for pleasure. The Library in Birr is now open and will select books for your child. The Library in Banagher will be opening soon.

Important Change to Date
6th Class Graduation will be celebrated in St. Rynagh’s N.S. for the 6th Class of 2019-2020 at 7 p.m. on Friday 21st August.
I have messages posted on our website for every class in the school. Please watch the message with your child.
On the message I mention the teacher your child will have next year. We do not yet have the guidelines from the Department of Education and skills. When we get the guidelines I may need to divert some of our Special Education Teachers or myself to support classes. We will have to be adaptable to ensure that we can have as effective and as safe a school as possible.
When we receive the guidelines we will complete our plan for St. Rynagh’s N.S. to reopen. This may involve further dividing classes. If it does we will inform you. The restart will bring challenge and it is imperative that we meet them positively. We will put whatever safe health measures are recommended in place. We will inform you of our plan for reopening. We will be available to hear your concerns. Then we must all begin the New Year confidently and calmly.
All children pay more attention to how we behave than to what we say. Please speak positively to your children about returning to school, assure them we will be opening in September and that we are looking forward to that time.
I have written some advice relating to independence for the Junior infants of 2020. I think it would be useful for the parents of the present Junior and senior infants to have a look at this advice. Many of your children can undertake these tasks easily. A little practice before returning in September would be useful however.
Thank you all for your patience and perseverance with online learning to date. We will be in contact when we get our DES guidelines with our own reopening plan. Should anyone wish to contact me they can ring the school and leave a message or drop in a note. Please stay healthy and active along with your children.
