Safe Routes to School

Offaly County Council today 16^th May 2022 commenced phase 1 of our Safe Routes to School Plan.    Phase 1 is the management of the junction of Cuba Avenue and Main Street.  Please park away from the school to allow for these works to proceed.  There will be room for the school buses to park in front of the school.  There will be no room for any other parking in front or across the road from the school.

If you are collecting a child by car or bringing a child to school by car please park away from the school and walk to and from your car with your child or allow for your child to proceed independently if capable.

Please respect these efforts to improve the safety of children and all pedestrians by parking away from the school.

Pupils should wear rain jackets to school most days so they can walk from further away to the school and get fresh air during yard when it's not too wet.

Phase 1

The establishment of a Pelican Crossing at the Cuba Avenue, Main Street junctions.

Phase 2  

Footpaths to be improved and established to allow for children within 1 km of the school to walk to school on a footpath safely.

Phase 3 

Traffic to be managed from The Hill, Mainstreet to the junction of Church Road and Main Street.
